Scientology Meltdown - Good Morning America

Debbie Cook and her Scientology email are finally reaching American homes this morning.

Debbie Cook, a former executive with the Church of Scientology has revealed she believes the church has become greedy and corrupt under the leadership of David Miscavige.

Cook, who worked at the church's Sea Org group in Clearwater, Fla., sent an email containing criticisms of the church's management to about 12,000 Scientologists on New Year's Day, according to the Village Voice, which first broke the story.

The long, detailed message blasts Miscavige's fundraising strategies and spending habits and argues that his actions are out of line with what Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard intended when he started the church.

Many followers initially doubted the validity of the email, but Cook soon took to her Facebook page and disclosed that she had indeed sent the message, according to the Village Voice.

Still, some church members aren't too thrilled about Cook's outspoken statements.

Church of Scientology spokesperson Karin Pouw was quick to argue that Cook's views do not aptly reflect the views of other church members, according to the International Business Times
